BILLINGS- Close to 20,000 absentee ballots have already been returned in Yellowstone County ahead of the Nov. 6 general election.

Yellowstone County elections officials said Friday that roughly 69,000 ballots have been mailed out, and they predict that nearly 60,000 will be returned.

An estimated one-third of all votes in Yellowstone County will be from absentee ballots.

These numbers are already up from the 2016 presidential election, when 65,000 voters returned their absentee ballots.

Ballots were mailed out a week ago.

At last check, the Montana Secretary of State Office’s sent out over 360, 000 absentee ballots to voters around the state.

That number is also up from years past.
