Early numbers are coming in Montana showing support strong for 6-Mill Levy.
Just after the polls closed at 8 p.m. with 116,110 of votes in there are 66% voting in favor of the levy while 34% have so far voted no.
6-Mill Levy is a nonpartisan effort formed and exists to increase support and knowledge for the 6-Mill Levy according to its Facebook page.
Every ten years Montana voters make a decision on the measure that provides basic annual support for the state’s system of higher education.
The 6-Mill Levy is not a new tax and voters will have the chance to renew it during the 2018 general election.
Montana students are paying 60% of tuition costs out-of-pocket, more than double a generation ago. Without the levy, tuition could rise by 18%.
