The town of Roberts also had a Veterans Day celebration that started last week along HIghway 212.

Citizens put out crosses for veterans who have died.

Dog tags are put out for military personnel who are still alive.

The nearly 500 crosses and dog tags mean a lot to everyone in the small town.

“I can’t express words to think that what I thought was going to be a very small thing has grown to this,” said Kyle McKinney, organizer for the Roberts veterans memorial project. “It’s just all very emotional and so much pride.”

McKinney said Red Lodge started putting out crosses and dog tags this year, while Joliet has done the same for Memorial Day.

She says there is an effort throughout Carbon and Stillwater counties to expand this idea to more include highways.
