CHEYENNE- Wyoming’s congressional delegation has secured two key leadership positions when the new session of Congress begins next year in Washington, D.C.

U.S. Sen. John Barrasso was elected chairman of the Senate Republican conference, while second term Congresswoman Liz Cheney was selected as chair of the House Republican conference.

Both positions represent the third most powerful GOP leadership positions in both the Senate and House.

Both Barrasso and Cheney won easy re-election campaigns in the mid-term election last week.

Barrasso won with 67 percent of the vote, while Cheney garnered 62 percent of the votes cast in her race.
