8 applicants seeking open Billings City Council seat

BILLINGS – The city of Billings is looking for the next city council member to fill the Ward 2 City Council seat, which was recently vacated by Larry Brewster.

Mayor Bill Cole received eight applications Monday for the seat.

Two women and six men, submitted their application letters and resumes.

Among the eight applicants is former Montana Senate candidate Jennifer Merecki and Roger Gravgaard, who has served as chair of the Heights Task Force and chairman of the Billings Chamber of Commerce agriculture committee.

Another candidate is Thomas Zurbuchen, a plaintiff in a recent lawsuit against the city over utility franchise fees.

The Ward II Council member is chosen by the mayor and approved by majority vote of the Council.
