BILLINGS- St. Vincent Healthcare unveiled its new, state-of-the-art mammography bus in Billings Thursday.
The new bus will replace an outdated one and is equipped with 3D imaging to give women in Billings and rural communities breast cancer exams.
The bus was first smudged in a spiritual cleanse then a pink ribbon was cut.
The 3D mammography imaging finds invasive cancers 40 percent more frequently.
Those with the hospital say the services already provided on the mobile mammography bus have saved hundreds of lives by detecting breast cancer early.
St. Vincent offers one of only two mobile mammography programs in Montana. The other unit is operated in Kalispell.
