BILLINGS- Leaders with the One Big Sky development unveiled the final draft plan for the proposed project late Monday night, including renderings of what downtown Billings could one day turn into.
Leaders of One Big Sky call it a vision to create one of America’s great cities of tomorrow. They say the project is key, not only to Billing’s economic future, but to the entire state of Montana. That vision includes four core districts in downtown Billings– each with its own anchor.
A convention center would be the shining star of the Entertainment District. The convention center could also be used for festivals, athletic events, or concerts.
The idea behind the Lifestyle District is to provide urban housing and a public market— something leaders say would attract more retail businesses to downtown.
There would also be an Education District and a Health and Wellness District– that would play to the strengths of our growing hospitals.
The project still needs to the green light from the city and state to move closer to reality. Several open forums will be held to give the public a chance to see the plans and ask questions. The first is set for Jan. 4.
