BILLINGS- He’s covered presidential visits, cattle drives, legislative hearings and community events for two decades in Billings and nearly four decades in Montana.

Now Jay Kohn is signing off as Q2 anchor. But don’t worry, you’ll see him again on Q2’s airwaves.

Tonight’s 5:30 p.m. broadcast on Q2 will be Jay’s last in his current role. He’s moving on to an “anchor emeritus,” allowing him the flexibility to continue to contribute to Q2 on air.

Jay’s first year as a broadcaster was 1978 in Helena as a sports director. In between, he worked as MTN’s Capitol Burea chief and news director at MTN’s KXLF in Butte. He came to Billings as anchor in 1998.

His replacement is Russ Riesinger, a Billings native and veteran broadcaster whose work has already appeared on Q2 in recent months. Russ will anchor tonight’s 10 o’clock show next to co-anchor Jeanelle Slade.

Jay announced his send-off on his Facebook page earlier today. Tune in to our 5:30 p.m. broadcast to pay tribute to one of Montana’s longest-tenured broadcasters.
