BILLINGS – A Lame Deer teen has been identified as the victim of a crash late on Friday night.

Kobi Highwater, 17, was killed after the car he was in crashed while it was being pursued by the Northern Cheyenne Bureau of Indian Affairs agents on Highway 212.

Around 10:30 p.m. Friday, the car lost control on a left-hand curve and ran off the right side of the highway.

Neither federal nor state authorities have said why the vehicle was being pursued by the BIA.

Montana Highway Patrol said the driver, a 21-year-old woman, along with Highwater, were both thrown from the vehicle.  Neither were wearing seat belts.

A 15-year-old girl was also in the car at the time of the crash.

Troopers said Highwalker died on the scene, and the two females were transported to a Billings hospital.

Alcohol and speed are considered to be factors in the crash.
