Update: The school district posted this statement on their website:

Superintendent Scott and the Board of Trustees have been made aware of potential threats made by a student towards our school and student body. Melstone Public Schools were closed Tuesday.

A school official confirmed the closure but referred further questions to Superintendent Brett Scott, who was not immediately available.

Parents and staff were notified of the closure by telephone late Monday and the closure was posted on the school’s website. Click here to go to the school website.

A parent told Q2 News a school official told them during the call the closure was due to a threat to the school or the student body but when asked details they said they couldn’t release any more information.
