Update 8:50 p.m. Water service to all homes in Laurel was restored early Wednesday evening, city officials reported.

LAUREL- Homes on the south side of Laurel were without water after a pipe broke Wednesday morning.

Laurel’s public works department was working to fix the break, but service had not been restored as of 4 p.m. Wednesday, according to Laurel Chief Administrative Officer Matthew Lurker.

Crews had to depressurize the line during the repair, which required them to shut off lines feeding the south side, Lurker said.

The shut off did not affect business south of the tracks in Laurel, Lurker said.

The cause of the break is not yet known, he said.
