BILLINGS – Billings police responded to the area near the Yellowstone County Courthouse in downtown Billings on Thursday morning after a man was discovered passed out, covered in blood, with a gun at his side.

The incident began when police responded to a report of a break-in at a nearby beauty supply store around 7:30 a.m. Thursday.

At that same time, another call came in of a report of a transient male who refused to leave a building across from the courthouse.

When police arrived, they discovered the man passed out, covered in blood, with a gun at his side.

The 32-year-old man was taken into custody and transported to a Billings hospital.

After further investigation, it was determined the gun was a BB gun.

The suspect had broken a window at the beauty supply store, cut himself in the process, stole items, left the business and passed out, prompting the police response.
