THERMOPOLIS- A Thermopolis woman was killed and Billings man injured in a two-vehicle crash west of Thermopolis Thursday.

Candis Peterson, 37 of Thermopolis, died at the scene of the crash at milepost 5 on Wyoming Highway 120, Wyoming Highway Patrol Sgt. Jeremy Beck said in a Friday news release.

Larry Houlihan, 61 of Billings, was driving the other vehicle and was taken to Hot Spring Memorial Hospital for his injuries. His condition was not immediately available.

According to the highway patrol, a 2014 Ford F550, driven by Houlihan, was heading south about 3:20 p.m. on Highway 120 when a northbound 2011 Honda Pilot, driven by Peterson, tried to turn left into a driveway in front of him.

A juvenile passenger in the Honda was also transported to Hot Springs Memorial Hospital.

Troopers said they are investigating whether driver inattention by Peterson contributed to the crash.

This is the 16th fatality on Wyoming’s highways in 2019, compared to eight in 2018, nine in 2017, and six in 2016 to date.
