ExxonMobil refinery workers in Billings ratify new contract

BILLINGS- Union refinery voted to approve a new three-year contract at Billings ExxonMobil refinery Monday evening.

The last, best and final offer from the company and United Steelworkers local 11-470 will be finalized in the coming days, company officials said.

“The contract negotiations process can sometimes take extra time and work to get to a mutual agreement. The company and union baragined in good faith and reached an agreement that is an important step forward for the Billings refinery,” ExxonMobil spokesman Dan Carter told Q2 News.

The vote came after negotiators for both sides reached a tentative deal on Saturday. The union’s 140 members had previously rejected a negotiated deal last month, largely over local issues involving operator classification and pay.

The two sides had continued working after the initial no vote, and operations were never halted at the plant.
