BILLINGS – A Billings woman is charged with assault with a weapon after she stabbed her twin sister.
On Monday morning, officers responded to a residence on Governors Boulevard after a woman called dispatch saying her daughter had called her saying she was going to harm her sister, according to charging documents filed Wednesday.
When officers arrived, they found a woman named Jayme Messerly with blood on her head. They also noticed the victim, who was not identified by name in charging documents, with blood flowing from her arm.
The victim told responding officers that she was stabbed by Messerly, whom she identified as her twin sister, according to prosecutors.
The victim was transported to a hospital, where she was treated for her stab wounds.
During an interview with officers, the victim said that she had been drinking with Messerly and another friend. She told officers that Messerly was really drunk.
Documents state that Messerly and the victim then got into an argument. The victim told officers she went into her room, where she could hear Messerly yelling from outside that she was going to stab her.
She said Messerly then yelled, “come out here bitch, I am going to kill you!”
She told officers when she opened her door, she saw Messerly with a knife in her hands. She said Messerly first tried to stab her in the neck, but she was able to move. She was then stabbed in the back, and in the process of trying to get the knife away from Messerly, was stabbed in the arm.
The other person at the residence at the time described that the argument seemed like a “sisterly fight” at first. He told officers it then escalated to the two screaming at each other.
The man told officers that he followed Messerly into her room to try and calm her down, but it did not work and the two kept yelling at each other from their rooms.
He said the two then opened their doors and “squared off like they were going to physically fight”, and that is when Messerly started stabbing her sister.
