BILLINGS- A man is in custody after a high-speed chase that started in Billings and ended near Pryor Wednesday night.

Shannon Yellowtail, 42, is in the Yellowstone County Detention Facility for criminal endangerment and a felony warrant.

The incident started with a report of a kidnapping from Riverside Middle School, according to Lt. Tim Siegle of the Yellowstone County Sheriff’s Office.

The chase began around 5:30 p.m. when a deputy spotted the suspect’s pickup truck and tried to stop him in Billings.

The suspect went down South Billings Boulevard to Blue Creek Road, headed west on Pryor Road and then south onto East Pryor Road.

Around 7 p.m., deputies chased Yellowtail down the dirt road about seven miles before he stopped near the Big Horn County line and tried to get away.

An ambulance took him to the hospital and he was later taken to jail.

Siegle said the Sheriff’s office has no reason to believe anyone was kidnapped.

Two other men were in the vehicle with the suspect and jumped out in Billings during the chase.
