RED LODGE- A Red Lodge man is facing assault charges after prosecutors say he caused a 9-month-old baby “potentially life-threatening” injuries, including fractures to the child’s skull.
According to Carbon County officials, Nathan Polakoff, 22, is not in custody and is to appear in court later this month.
According to court documents, he’s charged with two counts of assault on a minor, both felonies for two incidents that happened on April 17 and April 19.
The child’s mother lives in Billings and was staying with Polakoff in Red Lodge.
On the first occasion, the mother said Polakoff was checking on the baby in another room, then heard a thump. When she came into the room, the baby vomited.
Two days later, Polakoff told the child’s mother that the baby rolled off a futon and dropped several inches onto the ground. The baby continued to vomit and stopped breathing.
Polakoff has been summoned to appear in Carbon County District Court on May 22.
