BILLINGS- One of Billings’ iconic downtown buildings is the new planned home for Big Sky Economic Development.

BSED announced Monday that it has chosen the Montana National Bank on North Broadway for its new location.

The plans would be to turn the building into a one-stop business and community economic development hub.

“It would be a location where entrepreneurs can gather with mentors and with our consultants and engage and share ideas and experience training,” says Big Sky Economic Development Director Steve Arveschoug. “The facility would also connect our team, our professionals in a very visible way with the community.

Arveschoug says the owner of the Montana National Bank Building, Chris Nelson, has made a strong effort to partner in the effort.

“Our partners are saying we want to help grow entrepreneurship in our community and we are doing that in a big way. We think this facility will help us have a more forward-facing approach and be more proactive with growing jobs organically in our community through stronger resources for entrepreneurship,” says Arveschoug.

The total cost of the project would be around $4 million with $2 million of that coming from a grant that has been submitted to the Federal Economic Development Administration that must be approved before the plans can become reality.
