BILLINGS – A new era begins this month at MetraPark in Billings, as the new naming contract for the arena building goes into effect.
The arena will now be known as First Interstate Arena, but it will still be a couple of months before the change is made to the signs on the building.
Ray Massie, director of marketing and sales at MetraPark, said the goal is to have the new signs up by MontanaFair, which begins Aug. 9.
In the meantime, the change will be seen when you are buying tickets as you will now be looking for shows and seats at the First Interstate Arena, not Rimrock Auto Arena.
That change can already be seen on online ticket buying sites.
In January, the Yellowstone County Commissioners accepted the bid from First Interstate Bank to replace the expiring deal with the Rimrock Auto Group.
The new deal is worth $875,000 over five years.
