BILLINGS – The Billings Breakfast Exchange Club hosted the second annual Food Truck Battle on the Yellowstone at the Chiesa Plaza on the MetraPark grounds Saturday.

Twenty-seven food trucks from the Billings area showed up to battle it out for the title of “Best in Billings.”

Ten percent of all food truck sales and all profits from beer sales and gate admissions were donated to a non-profit called Veterans Matter that assists veterans with obtaining housing through the Veterans Assisted Supported Housing (VASH) program.

Veterans get approved to receive the VASH vouchers to help them pay their monthly rent. However, they still have to come up with a deposit, and this event hopes to raise money to go towards assisting with those required deposits.

John Wilson with the food truck battle board said in 2018 the Breakfast Exchange Club was able to donate about $26,000 to Veterans Matter.

With more food trucks participating in the battle, and the fact that the weather held out this year, Wilson expects the amount donated to be higher than in 2018.

“Last year we had less trucks and we had bad weather,” Wilson said, “But donating twice as much would be wonderful.”

Q2 will update this story as soon as we know the winner.
