BILLINGS – BBQ, food, and beer is a well-liked mix in the summer months, and on Saturday people in Billings raised a glass for the 9th year of Montana Brews and BBQs.

Located on the Chiesa Plaza at Metrapark, Montana Brews and BBQ’s brought craft beer from across big sky country here to the Magic City.

The event is billed as the only “true brewfest” in Montana. Mark Hedin, Brews and BBQ’s promoter said the outdoor nature of the event contributes to the authenticity.

“The other thing is that the beer has to be drank out of a glass,” Hedin said. “And also it needs to come from a keg. So every ounce of beer you will sip out here is from a keg. Freshly brewed at its freshest point.”

From as far west as Hamilton, to Sidney in the east, 35 Montana breweries brought 80 types of beer for folks to enjoy.

“We actually did a computation that if you went to every brewery that is here and drove you would be driving over 2000 miles,” Hedin said.

With almost a decade of beer, BBQs and fun, Hedin said it’s pretty easy to keep Montanans coming back.

“We’re no geniuses but if you put together good weather, good beer, good food, and good music typically you’re going to get a lot of Montanans out,” Hedin said.

If you want to get your own taste of some Montana craft brews, Brews and BBQ’s is open until 10 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free for everyone.
