BILLINGS — The 1989 Great Montana Cattle Drive celebrated Montana's centennial as a state.

A Billings artist showed some paintings Friday as part of an exhibit to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the drive.

Tyler Murphy showed his exhibit “89” at Montana Gallery in downtown Billings.

As part of show, he read a poem written by his grandfather.

Murphy’s father, Mike Murphy, was the media wrangler for the drive.

He told stories along with Dick Walker, president of the cattle board and president of Latigo Corp., which helped put on the drive.

The exhibit featuring the cattle drive paintings will be on display for about one month.

Montana Gallery is located at 2710 Second Ave. N.
