Teachers from Grace Montessori Academy in Billings celebrated spring, and the first day of May, by surprising their students.
"We're all from Grace Montessori Academy and we came up with this idea to go around to say hello to our students since we haven't been able to see them for so long, and deliver May Day gifts to them," teacher Marybeth Gregory said Friday.
"I'm just doing my school work, and then I hear a ring from the doorbell and all my teachers are here. Tey came and said hi," student Evelyn Mackey said.
The surprises were a collaborative idea to connect with students.
"You know, it's amazing how resilient they are and how understanding they are, and every day we have a community meeting on Google Classroom online, and we just talk to them about it, and then being a Christian school we get to pray with them as well, which is really special," Gregory said.
The group left baskets on 38 porches of their students.
"We have to serve our children," Gregory said. "They need it, and they deserve it, and it was our commitment is that we were not going to let them fall behind during this time."
"We do Google Classroom. We have Bible, we have math, language, all different subjects. I love school," Mackey said.
The staff is especially proud of the community effort, students, teachers and parents.
"Got great support from our families, and this is one way we give back to them. Let them know that we miss their children and love them so much," Gregory said.
