Update: Man taken into custody following four-hour standoff in south Billings

BILLINGS — Update 7:28 p.m. The man has been identified as Darren Whiteman, 36. He was booked into Yellowstone County Detention Facility on felony robbery charges. Bail is $250,000.



Update 5:10 p.m. A man was arrested early Wednesday evening in south Billings after a standoff of more than four hours with police.

Police pulled the man from a building at a trailer park off Mullowney Lane near the intersection with Story Road after deploying tear gas in the area.

The man was the only occupant, according to Billings Police Capt. Neil Lawrence.

Billings police, SWAT, firefighters and AMR ambulance responded to the incident that began at 12:30 p.m.

Update 4:57 p.m. One man has been pulled from a building and taken into custody.

No details on who he is or what he's wanted for.



A large police presence has gathered in an apparent standoff at a trailer park on Mullowney Lane near the intersection with Story Road.

Billings police, SWAT, firefighters and AMR ambulance personnel were on the scene at 4:40 p.m.

Tear gas had been deployed in the area.
