BILLINGS — Billings Police are investigating a shooting Sunday afternoon in the parking lot of the Ponderosa Acres apartment complex on 1301 Industrial Avenue.
Initial calls came in around 4:30 p.m. Sunday of a dispute between two people in the parking lot.
According to Billings Police Sgt. Harley Cagle, the dispute escalated and a shot was fired.
Cagle said both people got into separate vehicles to leave the complex and crashed into each other before fleeing in separate directions on South Plainview Street.
Cagle described the vehicles as a blue and gray passenger cars with multiple people in each vehicle. He could not say how many people were in either car. He was not able to provide descriptions of those involved.
Billings Police have notified the local hospitals to be on the lookout for anyone coming to the hospital with apparent gunshot wounds.
The incident remains under investigation.
