The city of Billings will have a new way to pay water bills online that will offer more information for customers.
The city's Public Works Department sent out a notice Friday to those with recurring payments online.
By next Friday, those customers will have to enroll in a new system called Invoice Cloud.
That payment system will also allow payments on cell phones.
Deputy Public Works Director Jennifer Duray said Friday that Invoice Cloud will be more efficient.
Later in March, a program called Water Smart, which is within the same system, will allow access to information on usage and leaks with a possibility of text alerts.
"Invoice Cloud is an updated payment system for our water, sewer and garbage customers," said Duray. "Water Smart is pretty exciting. It's for our water customers that will allow them to really control their bill. Customers have been asking for this system, so we're really happy to roll it out."
Only those using recurring online payments received notice of "Invoice Cloud."
The city will release more information about Water Smart to all customers later.
