One man was arrested and another taken to the hospital after leading police on a chase through Billings Wednesday night following a report of a beating.

Police received a call at 7:05 p.m. that one person was beating another in the back seat of a white Chevy truck, according to Billings Police Lt. Brian Krivitz.

Officers found the vehicle and tried to make a traffic stop at the corner of King Avenue East and Orchard Avenue, Krivitz said in a news release.

The truck fled and entered Interstate 90. Yellowstone County sheriff's deputies tried to spike the tires, and the truck swerved into a barrow pit nad struck the median, and the tires deflated, Krivitz said.

The truck was still mobile and continued into town. A Montana Highway Patrol trooper conducted a pit maneuver, bumping the suspect vehicle, and forced it to stop at the corner of Second Avenue North and North 19th Street, Krivitz said.

The suspect driver, Terry Slater of Lodge Grass, fled on foot but was quickly caught, according to Krivitz.

The victim in the back seat was taken to a local hospital.

Krivitz said he expects Slater will face several counts of felony criminal endangerment and criminal possession of dangerous drugs. Slater has not been formally charged.
