CODY, Wyo. — A 44-year-old woman was taken to the hospital in Cody, Wyo., after a gunshot wound to the head Monday afternoon, and the man she said shot her then killed himself inside a camper at an RV park after he saw police.

Cody police said officers responded around 3:30 p.m. to the Rodeo West Gas Station at 130 Yellowstone Ave. to a report of a woman with a gunshot wound.

She told police that her 76-year-old boyfriend has shot her after an argument in their camper at the nearby RV park.

The woman was able to leave the camper to call for help at the gas station, and her boyfriend followed, according to police. He returned to the camper when he saw police.

When officers approached the camper, they heard an apparent single gunshot from inside. Cody police and Park County sheriff's deputies secured the area, while the Cody Police Tactical Response Team was called.

After trying to make contact with the man, police deployed a robot into the camper and found the man dead. Police said they believe he shot himself.

The woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Neither individual was identified Monday. The case remains under investigation.
