Some good news out of Manhattan.
Two children, ages four and six, went missing this afternoon while they were in playing a field outside their home. After extensive search efforts, they were found a short time later.
"They were found down quite a ways away," said Gallatin County Sergeant Ian Parker. "They covered a lot of territory for being as young as they were. Thankfully they were found safe, found by Amsterdam."
The children wandered away from home early in the afternoon but were found a short time later.
"It just sounds like the kids were out playing in the field like they normally do and wandered off in the wrong direction today," Parker said. "They were not out of sight for very long from the parents -- which is pretty typical for us in these situations. Little kids, when they want to move, they can cover some territory."
Amsterdam Fire, Manhattan PD, Gallatin County Search and Rescue, Gallatin County Sheriff’s office, some Chaplains, (a) helicopter was in the area helping us search from up above -- so we had a really good turnout," Parker said.
The children seemed to be in bright spirits, but the parents chose not to comment.
