Superintendent of Public Instruction Elsie Arntzen said Thursday that Montana high school students saw record-high graduation rates for the 2018 - 2019 school year.
The graduation rate was nearly 87%, surpassing the previous record of 86.4% which was set for the 2017 - 2018 school year.
Arntzen added in a news release that Native American students saw a slight decline in graduation rates after two previous years of growth and stability.
The 2019 graduation rate was 66.7% as compared to 67.5% in 2018 and 2017, and 63% in 2016.
However, completion rates -- the percentage of students who are completing high school just in more than four years -- for Native American students are at a historic high of 70.2%.
