BILLINGS – On Monday night the Billings City Council will discuss a controversial city-wide non-discrimination ordinance.
The meeting is expected to be heavily attended by the public.
To ensure the safety of those in attendance, Billings police are increasing security, according to the department.
All but one door will be locked at City Hall starting at 5 p.m. Only the entry at Third Avenue North and North 27th Street will be open for the meeting.
Extra officers will be on-scene, and metal detectors will be in use.
Law enforcement says certain items will not be allowed in the building or in council chambers.
If you try to enter the meeting with any of the items listed below you will be asked to return them to your vehicle, or they will be thrown away.
- Firearms or weapons of any kind including knives, utility knives, mace, personal pepper spray, wallet chains, sharp spiked jewelry, fireworks or pyro of any kind, alcohol, Illegal drugs or substances, coolers, backpacks or bags that exceed 12”x12”, fanny packs or waist packs, and noise making devices.
