Update 11 p.m. A man was shot multiple times to death outside a church on Billings West End and collapsed in the street, where he was later run over, according to Billings Police Lt. Dave Cardillo.

Police are developing a description from neighbors of the suspect in the shooting outside Evangelical United Methodist Church, reported around 9 p.m Monday, according to Cardillo.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the man stopped at the scene near the corner of Broadwater Avenue and Fourth Street West and spoke with police. He told police the man was lying in the street when he ran over him, according to Cardillo.

Police were seen putting evidence markers in front of the church, where the victim's cell phone and footprints were found, Cardillo said.

Broadwater Avenue was blocked for five blocks around the scene for the investigation and will likely remain so through early Tuesday, Cardillo said.

Police have not identified the victim.

One person is dead Monday night as police have shut down Broadwater Avenue near Fourth Street West to investigate.

Few details were available just before 10 p.m., although several police cars were at the scene.
