BILLINGS — The Mate Show finished in Billings Saturday, but that was not all that was going on at the Metra.
In coordination with the MATE, the Farmers Union held its Winter Thaw Conference at the Metra Park Expo Center.
The conference featured a day full of AG related activities, and work-shops.
The Montana Farmers Union, Montana Cattlewomen, Montana Agri-Women, Montana Women Involved in Farm Economics and the United States Cattlemen's Association put on the event.
They talked about problems and successes in current agriculture.
"I'm with the United States Cattleman's Association, we have a team in Washington D.C., that works for producers all over the country, 365 days a year, and we're constantly trying to better the policy that comes out of Washington D.C. and would favor the producers, cattle producers," U.S. Cattlemen's Association President Brooke Miller said.
Some of the topics included country of origin labeling, the aging workforce and lack of younger people filling these positions.
