Wyoming U.S. Sen. Mike Enzi gave his farewell speech on the Senate floor after 24 years in office.

“It turns out that when we work together we can create a better bill than when we just try to do it alone or force others to accept our ideas,” Enzi said. “That is why success is not really about compromise. It is about what you leave out or finding a third way to accomplish a mutually agreeable new way.”

Enzi, a Republican, announced earlier this year he would not seek re-election after four terms.

He will be succeeded next year by fellow Republican Cynthia Lummis, a former congresswoman.
