Yellowstone Park is open, but visiting the nation's oldest park is still pretty much a day trip that requires extra planning.
If you're planning to stay in the park, the only options are cabins at Mammoth and Old Fairthful.
The cabins at Old Faithful opened Monday, while the cabins at Mammoth have been open since June 1. The cabins at Yellowstone Lake will open June 17.
Meanwhile, all of the lodges and hotels in Yellowstone are closed for the 2020 tourist season. Those include the Lake Hotel, the Old Faithful Inn and Snow Lodge, the Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel and the Canyon Village Lodge.
All of Yellowstone's 12 campgrounds remain closed. The first to open will be the Madison Campground one week from Monday on June 15. Campgrounds at Grant Village and Bridge Bay open on June 17, while Canyon opens June 19.
The rest of the park's campgrounds are set to open July 1, with the exception of Fishing Bridge, which is closed for the season due to construction.
As far as food, don't forget to pack a lunch and some munchies. As it stand sow, all the food service in Yellowstone is grab-and-go style, with only a few general stores and gift shops open. All of the Yellowstone's dining rooms and cafeterias will be closed for the entire 2020 season.
Best advice, be sure to check the Yellowstone Park websitefor the latest on what's open and closed, before heading out.
