HELENA – The Montana VA announced Tuesday a new acting chief of staff will begin next week.

Dr. John Nord will serve in acting capacity while the search for a permanent chief of staff continues.

He starts Sept. 4.

“We are excited to have Dr. Nord working with us,” says Dr. Kathy Berger, director of the Montana VA Health Care System. “He will be bringing his expertise, insights and energy to Montana VA’s mission of providing quality health care to Veterans.”

According to the VA, Nord has traveled regularly to Fort Harrison to provide care since 2009.

Dr. Nord is an Air Force Veteran. His service highlights include a tour in South America in support of drug interdiction operations, and in Washington, DC at the former National Reconnaissance Office. John is married to his wife Patricia of 23 years and has two teenage daughters.

He’s currently the Deputy Chief of Staff for the VA Salt Lake City health care system.

The Montana VA serves over 47,000 veterans across the state.
