New fire start quickly burns 2,000 acres near Hot Springs

HOT SPRINGS- A new fire sparked near Hot Springs Thursday, scorching 2,000 acres of grass and timber.

The CSK Division of Fire reports the fire start is in the Rattlesnake area, about 10 miles northeast of Hot Springs.

Crews are battling the blaze with three helicopters and two air tankers, 7-smaller single “SEAT” tankers and 110-firefighters and equipment on the ground.

There’s no word of any evacuations at this point.

Authorities aren’t yet sure what started this fire.

CSK Fire just got done spending several weeks bringing the 2,000-acre Garden Creek Fire near Hot Springs under control.
