GREAT FALLS- Ashley Howard of Glendive pleaded not guilty in Cascade County District Court on Wednesday to a charge of negligent homicide in the death of her 2-year-old son.

Court documents allege the child was left in a vehicle overnight from June 25 to the morning of June 26.

Court documents state that the child was taken to Glendive Medical Center on June 26 with a body temperature of 107 degrees, and then airlifted to St. Vincent Health Care in Billings, where he died on June 28.

Howard appeared in front of Judge Elizabeth Best by video Wednesday. Attorneys had motioned for a substitute judge from outside Dawson County to hear the case.

Howard’s trial is scheduled for April 15 in Glendive.
