An inside look: Q2 rides along in presidential press pool for Trump rally

BILLINGS- As President Trump descended from Air Force One Thursday evening, so did a wave of members from the national press.

KTVQ was the only local media outlet during Trump’s visit to Billings to get an inside look at how the president travels and how the national press covers his events.

Reporters Andrea Lutz and Brandon Sullivan were given special access to the press pool.

On this particular visit to Billings, so many members of the national media traveled along that three white vans were filled with reporters. Each traveled with the president and emergency vehicles in the motorcade.

As the motorcade made its way from the airport and along Highway 3 to Metra Park, the road and intersections were blocked. However, Q2 cameras were allowed to see the view from inside, as supporters and protesters lined the streets of Billings welcoming Trump to Billings.

Once inside Metra Park, the national press and Q2 reporters were stationed in a press corral adjacent to the stage.

The special access also meant when Air Force One landed, Q2 was just feet away from the plane with an up-close view of President Trump, Senator Steve Daines, and Congressman Greg Gianforte.

Also present in Thursday night’s press pool were reporters from the New York Times and USA Today.
