GREAT FALLS – Saturday was the perfect day for 26 teams to challenge each other in an intense CrossFit event.

The event, hosted by RPP Fitness, was comprised of male/female partners who spent about seven hours completing actions such as burpees, wall balls, and snatches.

“It adds in a totally different variable,” RPP Fitness Owner Christian Nichols said of the teams. “You have a lot of height and weight advantages and disadvantages for both so it just brings another spin on an opportunity for a fun workout.”

Nichols explained there were five total events with the final event being for the top competitors in the RX division.

Competitors also completed heavy cleans, jump roping, dead lifts, and some biking.

“Once I opened my gym, my goal was to eventually host a competition,” Nichols said. “Centene Stadium offered it up and said we should do it here and I took advantage of the opportunity and following my dream.”

Nichols started CrossFit in 2007 and enjoyed the workout while he was in the Air Force. After becoming a coach, he knew he would one day have his own gym.

RPP Fitness is located at 624 3rd Street South. You can visit the gym’s Facebook page for more information.

Nichols added he was grateful for the several sponsors who made the competition a possibility.
