Police continuing investigation of body found in Great Falls river

GREAT FALLS- The body of a man was recovered from the Missouri River in Great Falls on Saturday.

The Great Falls Police Department was notified at about 10:15 a.m. that a body had been seen in the river.

Officers recovered the body along River Drive just south of Central Avenue, across from the Electric City Water Park.

Great Falls police used a drone to conduct aerial surveillance during the recovery effort.

The body was recovered just after noon, according to the police.

Authorities have not yet said whether they have been able to identify the body, nor indicated the cause or manner of death.

An autopsy is scheduled Monday.

Responding agencies included the Great Falls police, the Cascade County Sheriff’s Office, and Great Falls Fire Rescue.
