Settlement reached in case against Frenchtown school, former teacher

Posted

MISSOULA – A settlement has been reached in the case against Frenchtown High School in connection with former teacher Troy Bashor, who was accused of inappropriate contact with students during his time there.

A “Notice of Settlement” was filed jointly Tuesday morning by attorneys for an unidentified minor and the Frenchtown School District.

It notifies the federal court in Missoula that an agreement has been reached in the lawsuit, while future hearings, including a possible trial, have been canceled.

Bashor was charged with two counts of sexual assault, one felony and one misdemeanor, for inappropriate contact with two female students last October. He accepted a plea deal in the criminal case in August, making both charges misdemeanors, to which he pleaded no contest.

In the civil suit, attorneys demanded the school district and Superintendent Randy Cline pay damages to one of the victims.

Details of the settlement were not immediately disclosed, but are set to be available within the next ten days.
