HELENA – Broadwater County Sheriff Wynn Meehan says a small plane crashed into a creek bank about two miles south of Townsend, between the Missouri River and Highway 287.
Two occupants were in the plane. Both were conscious and speaking to authorities, but Meehan said they sustained life-threatening injuries.
The occupants were taken by medical helicopter to a local hospital.
Sheriff’s officers arrived shortly after 6 p.m.
Meehan is waiting for the Federal Aviation Administration before making any further action.
NorthWestern Energy is reporting a confirmed outage in the area affecting about 135 customers.
Crews are on scene of a downed line along the Missouri River in the Townsend service area. Crews also found a downed plane near the site. Paramedics were notified and are on the scene. It may take several hours to restore power. Thank you for you patience. ^jdb
