MISSOULA – Shopko says it’s closing more of its stores in Montana, including two in south-central Montana.

Shopko will be closing six locations in Montana: Whitefish, Great Falls, Roundup, Dillon, Wolf Point, and Hardin.

The Roundup and Hardin stores are both ShopKo Hometown locations, which are smaller stores that offer specialty services, including a pharmacy.

The Wisconsin-based retailer announced its closing 70 percent of its stores after it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

In all, Shopko identified 250 stores around the nation which will close or have already closed.

Liquidations at these stores will be carried out in phases. Closings are expected to begin on March 17, with all of these stores closed by May 12.

Shopko stated in a letter to customers that its remaining stores will be open during restructuring. Gift cards, warranties, credits and returns will continue at the open stores.
