GREAT FALLS- An inmate of the Cascade County Detention Center was mistakenly released last month.

Daniel Sutherland was released from jail after several charges were dismissed from his case.

He is currently being held on three counts of sexual assault and one count of sexual intercourse without consent.

Cascade County Sheriff Jesse Slaughter said the release was an oversight by jailhouse staff.

Slaughter assigned a detective to find Sutherland right away.

On Sunday, he was arrested in Rocky Boy and is being held on a $150,000 bond.

Slaughter said the sheriff’s office has added extra checks and balances to ensure a similar situation does not happen again.
