MISSOULA – A phone scam is being reported at the University of Montana.

The University of Montana Police Department reports they have received multiple reports of a phone scam where the call appeared to come from their main phone number (243-6131).

The caller claimed to have an arrest warrant and required a credit card number to pay a fine.

UMPD noted in a message sent out Wednesday that they do not make notifications in this manner and would never ask for a credit card or other personal information over the phone.

Anyone who receives such a phone call is asked to contact UMPD at (406) 243-6131.
