COLUMBIA FALLS –  With St. Patrick’s Day winding down this weekend, MTN takes a look at a Columbia Falls liquor and wine store as it prepares for one of its busiest days.

O’Brien’s liquor and Wine, owned by O’Brien Byrd in Columbia Falls has heavy Irish roots. O’Brien himself is half Irish and grew up in the Flathead Valley.

Employee Roland Benedict tells MTN that St. Patrick’s Day draws a crowd and extra staff is even brought in to meet the demands.

Benedict says the unique Irish name is what he believes draws folks to the store on this Irish holiday.

“It gets busy in here because we’re O’Brien’s liquor and wine. So, even if you don’t come into our store all the time, you’re not a regular, people come in because we seem to be the St. Patrick’s Day destination kinda because of the name and our colors on our logo,” Benedict says.

O’Brien’s will have St. Patrick’s Day specials all through this weekend, as well as a band on Saturday playing Irish tunes.
