Police on the Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation are investigating a shooting after a medical team discovered the victim of a car crash had a gunshot wound.

Criminal Investigator Ed Long Knife of the Chippewa Cree Law Enforcement Services said the investigation began with a report of a vehicle crash on Taylor Road Sunday at about 9:23 p.m.

The victim had apparently been ejected from the vehicle, according to Long Knife. He was transported to a hospital in Havre where doctors discovered he had been shot.

Long Knife said that due to the victim’s condition, he was flown to Great Falls.

He added evidence was found at the crash scene and investigators have a suspect or suspects.

Long Knife declined to release any additional details while the investigation continues with help from the FBI.
