GREAT FALLS – Two men are facing felony charges after a shooting and alleged kidnapping near a Great Falls Walmart Thursday morning.
A Great Falls Police officer responded to Benefis Health System at 11:37 a.m. for a report of a male with a gunshot wound to his foot.
The 18-year-old victim told officers Russell Joseph Garcia, 27, and Timothy Wayne Schreck, 40, approached him in the parking lot of the Smelter Avenue Walmart and demanded he return a backpack he had allegedly stolen from Schreck’s vehicle.
Court documents state Garcia shot the 18-year-old in the left foot. Both men then allegedly forced the victim into their vehicle.
Garcia and Schreck had the victim take them to where he stored the property to retrieve it, according to court documents.
They then drove to Schreck’s residence where Schreck had the victim empty his pockets. He took the contents of the victim’s wallet, including cash.
Garcia and Schreck forcibly restricted his movement for two hours, according to court documents. A third party then took the victim to the hospital.
Court documents state police identified and detained Garcia and Schreck. The victim picked Garcia out of a photo line-up as the man who shot him.
Garcia has been charged with two felonies for aggravated kidnapping and assault with a weapon. He has an extensive criminal history out of Colorado including escapes, contempt of court, theft, and fraud. Prosecutors requested his bond be set at $150,000.
Schreck was charged with felony aggravated kidnapping and felony robbery. He has one conviction for possession of dangerous drugs from 2016 in Cascade County. Prosecutors asked that his bond be set at $150,000.
