BOZEMAN – Saturday, the Bozeman Chapter of the Montana Association for the Blind (BMAB) came together to carve ice.
BMAB is a membership for $10 a month that works to put on events for the blind. Saturday, Absolute Zero Ice Designs carved a block of ice with the BMAB acronym, as well as the letters in Braille.
President Todd Fahlstrom said although there are a lot of museums to go to in Bozeman, the city is lacking in hands-on activities.
“There are very little things that are tactile that we can touch when you go to a museum,” said Fahlstrom. “Everything is behind glass, so how do you experience that? So I wanted an event where we could actually have people come up to the ice and feel it. And so it will be cool to see. I have never felt braille in ice. So it will be a fun experience doing that today.”
Fahlstrom said the purpose behind BMAB is to show people that being blind doesn’t have to hold you back and anything is possible.
